This Shoe Polish kit includes a 120ml bottle of Leather Cleaner, two 80g neutral Shoe Cleaner cream, a horse hair brush, and a polishing towel.

The fundamental reason why leather is soft is that during tanning, oil is introduced into the interior of the animal skin to form an oil film that completely covers the surface of the fibers within the skin. That is, a layer of oil film with an appropriate thickness is used to separate the surfaces of the fibers within the skin. In this way, the friction force between the fibers within the leather is equivalent to the friction force of the oil molecules, so the leather will be very soft. The principle is similar to that of a sponge, but the difference is that the fibers on the inner surface of the dermis are separated by an oil film, which provides sliding pores between the dermis. However, the pores are smaller than those of a sponge, and the distribution of fibers on the inner surface of the dermis is not as regular as that of a sponge.

However, due to the natural state of the oil introduced into the interior of leather, it will slowly evaporate and lose over time, or due to other reasons, the oil film will be damaged. If it is hydrolyzed in water or exposed to high temperatures, the oil film will be damaged and the oil will evaporate and lose, resulting in mutual adhesion between the fibers inside the leather, thereby making the leather hard and brittle. Therefore, when the oil film inside the leather is damaged or the grease is lost, the surface between the fibers inside the leather should be re injected with high-quality grease that forms the oil film.
